the colours of winter

the colours of winter

fallen snow, 
it’s winter white,

rolling fog  a grey soft light,

mist on the moor paints  bracken gold,

deep ocean slate

and

white waves cold…

bright sunshine blue the sky above,

snow diamonds sparkle, dream of love,

and

meadow faded  green I see,

dogwood red against the snow,

white on white the birches glow,

pale morning sun alights a tree

and

dew drop pearls bare branches show,
orange winter moon this night,

web of black lace against the light,

a place where tiny snow drops grow…

I walk along, 
my heart does sing

their promise is

‘twill soon be spring…
